Getting to hospital

Dr Geoff Forbes

Gastroenterologist

Patients should have a relative or friend bring them to hospital for their procedure. As gastroscopy and colonoscopy procedures are typically undertaken with a sedative injection, given by an Anaesthetist, patients must be escorted home by a friend or relative after their procedure.

For patients attending hospital to receive an intravenous medication infusion, there is generally not a requirement to being escorted home, as a sedative injection is not required.
